As per the information available from Stephen of Microsoft Kitchen website, the codename for the next version of Windows is “Windows 8”, and there is a three year gap between the current server release and the next server release, which means it’ll be released in 2012.

I think Microsoft will follow their old release cycle of 2.5 to 3 year, earlier they have released Windows Vista in January 2007, Windows 7 is going to release in October 2009 and Windows 8 will be in 2012.

I am expecting big things from Windows 8.  Although Windows 7 is a great release and adds several much needed improvements to Windows Vista.
