Reminder: Windows 7 Beta Shutdown begin Tomorrow

30 June 2009No Comment

This is a reminder article for all Windows 7 Beta (build 7000) users that was leaked in December 2008 and officially available to the public in January 2009. Bi-hourly shutdowns of this build will begin tomorrow (1st July, 2009). This means that the user will be told to install a released version of Windows and their PC will shut down automatically every two hours. On 1st August, 2009 if you are still on the Windows 7 beta, your license will expire and the non-genuine experience will be triggered. Your wallpaper will be removed and “This copy of Windows is not genuine” will be displayed in the lower right corner above the taskbar.

If you want to continue testing Windows 7, we recommend moving over to the Windows 7 Release Candidate (build 7100) that was released to the public in May 2009. The RC will only be available to download until 15th, 2009.

Windows 7 RC will expire on 1st, 2010, and you will need to either upgrade to the final release of Windows 7 or a prior version of Windows before then.

The final version of Windows 7 will be officially released on 22nd October, 2009.
