Enable or Disable Jump Lists Feature in Windows 7

Windows 7 has one of the new features named as Jump Lists. If you are the user of Windows 7 Beta or Windows 7 RC then you already know the use of this feature. Jump Lists are lists of recent items, such as files, folders, or websites, organized by the program that you use to open them. Jump Lists also allows you to pin your favorites to Jump List, so you can quickly get to the items that you use very often.

Recently Opened Items

This feature is not available in the older versions of Windows operating system. If you don’t like this feature you can disable it by using the following simple procedure:

  1. Go to the Task Bar and Start Menu Properties by right-click on the taskbar.
  2. In the Taskbar and Start Menu properties window, navigate to Start Menu tab.
  3. Uncheck the option named Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar to disable Jump Lists feature.Disable Jump Lists
  4. Click on Apply and OK buttons to save the changes.
  5. If you want to enable this feature again, recheck the same option again to enable Jump Lists feature.
