Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 is can work on Windows XP SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP1 or later, Windows 7 RC, Windows Server 2008 or later, Windows Server 2008 R2 RC (not supported in Server Core Role).

The Framework also supports both 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit (x-64) architectures apart from support for a few features like WPF on ia64. It is recommended to have Pentium 1 GHz or higher and RAM of 256 MB or more.

How to install .Net Framework 4.0?

• Download windows Installer 3.1, and install it, if you don’t have the windows installer on your PC.
• Go to the Microsoft website and scroll down to download .NET Framework 4.0 for x86 (dotNetFx40_Full_x86.exe), x64 (dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe) and ia64 (dotNetFx40_Full_x86_ia64.exe). If you are unsure about which one to download, use x64. It should install correctly on either x86 or x64.
• Click on Run to start the installation immediately or click on Save to install later.
