Microsoft has redesigns the new MSN home page and this is one of the most significant redesign over the decade. Now, the wait is over! Windows 7 will be officially released in a few hours from now on Thursday, 22nd October 2009 at 8 AM PDT in New York City.

This consumer launch event will be hosted by Steve Ballmer, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation and he will be accompanied by the man behind Windows 7, Steven Sinofsky – President of Windows Division along with usual hardware partners and Microsoft employees.

Windows 7 Help from Microsoft is now on Twitter

Yesterday Microsoft launched @MicrosoftHelps, a new Twitter account that provides customers around the world with help and information on Windows 7, in English. Through this social medium, Microsoft will monitor and respond to real-time Windows 7 tweets and use them to improve the information, support and experience customers have with Windows 7.

Through Twitter, customers will have better access to help when, how and where they need it, key to Microsoft’s vision for customer support. The @MicrosoftHelps team consists of experienced social media agents with extensive knowledge about support resources to get answers to customer’s questions. In addition to responding to direct tweets, they will monitor the Twitter sphere and suggest resources to tweets about Windows 7 problems, issues or questions.

Windows 8 Server to be Release in 2012?

As per the information available from Stephen of Microsoft Kitchen website, the codename for the next version of Windows is “Windows 8”, and there is a three year gap between the current server release and the next server release, which means it’ll be released in 2012.

I think Microsoft will follow their old release cycle of 2.5 to 3 year, earlier they have released Windows Vista in January 2007, Windows 7 is going to release in October 2009 and Windows 8 will be in 2012.

I am expecting big things from Windows 8. Although Windows 7 is a great release and adds several much needed improvements to Windows Vista.

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) Final available from Today (29/09/09)

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free security software developed by Microsoft. It was released as a limited beta to users in the United States, Brazil & China.

Contrary to reports, Microsoft is not releasing its Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) final in October. It’s coming today, September 29.

As per the information available from DownoadSquad, MSE will be available to users in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States from today itself.

You can go to the Microsoft Security Essentials home page (not available yet), to download the final version of MSE security suite for your Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Windows 7 RTM will be Available to MSDN and TechNet Subscribers on 6th August

As per the information available, Windows 7 RTM will be available to MSDN and TechNet subscribers on 6^th August. Windows 7 team blog has reported some exclusive information about Windows 7 RTM, which explains when you will get Windows 7 RTM.

For Partners & OEMs:

Independent software vendor (ISV) and independent hardware vendor (IHV) partners will be the first one to have access to Windows 7 RTM from Microsoft Connect or MSDN on August 6^th.

Microsoft Action Pack Subscribers will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English starting August 23^rd. Remaining languages will be available by October 1^st.

For IT Professionals:

IT Professionals with TechNet Subscriptions will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English on August 6th and remaining languages by October 1^st.

For Developers:

Developers with MSDN Subscriptions will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English on August 6^th and remaining languages by October 1^st.

For Business Customers:

Volume License (VL) customer with an existing Software Assurance (SA) license will be able to download Windows 7 RTM in English on August 7^th via Volume License Service Center (VLSC).

Microsoft will be offering a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium in selected markets, which will allow installation on up to 3 PCs.

Windows 7 will Feature 36 New Languages and 50 New Fonts

The final version of Windows 7 will be released on 22^nd October, 2009 which offers you lots of customization options as compared to beta and RC versions. Windows 7 will be available to the worldwide,the Windows 7 engineering team has added more features to suit the users worldwide such as new fonts, new language packs and also localized themes and customizations.

The final release of Windows 7 will include 50 new fonts and it will be the first version of Windows to ship with more fonts for non-Latin scripts than for Latin-based scripts. One of the major change is for the languages of India. To the nine fonts for Indian languages that was available in Vista, Windows 7 adds forty more. Windows 7 will now include multiple fonts for each of the official languages of India.

Windows 7 localized versions will be available within 2 weeks of the final release of Windows 7. Windows 7 will be released in 36 languages in October.

In addition to the 36 languages that will be released in October, there will be additional languages available for download as Language Interface Packs (LIPs) onto any Windows 7 edition as part of the Local Language Program (LLP). Catalan and Hindi LIPs will be available for download in October.

Windows 7 will also feature themes, backgrounds and sounds for local markets. Local Packs provide customized Windows 7 visual themes for a specific region. These visual themes contain locally relevant wallpaper images, custom aero glass colors, and regional sound schemes.
